Position:

Teacher Mentor for after school enrichment and tutoring provider.

Duties:

With the ever-growing expansion of our services FVA needs veteran educators to serve as Teacher Mentors supervising teacher/tutoring staff, aiding in curriculum advancement, and delivering tutoring services as needed. Ideal candidates should have an established record of leadership and professionalism. The role demands an individual who thrives in high responsibility situations and responds well to challenges. The Teacher Mentor will deal with multiple stakeholders, details, deadlines, reporting requirements, compliance issues, and dynamics between people. We seek a confident teacher mentor with an understanding of the larger education community and a desire to gain leadership experience.

Duties include hiring and supervising tutors, acting as liaison to parents, responding to situations/emergencies, providing educational support, fulfilling reporting/attendance requirements, and representing Falls View Academy at events.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, Master's degree strongly preferred.
  • Teaching Certification; Elem Ed, Math, English, Reading, Special Ed, ESOL.
  • Formal teaching experience required.
  • Experience leading department, mentoring new teachers, or assisting in administrative responsibilities preferred.
  • Ability to utilize research-based results and professional development to advance curriculum for increased student achievement.
  • Commitment to tailoring instruction for EL Learners and students with IEP's.
  • Model of character and integrity.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with teachers, students, staff, and parents.
  • Demonstrated commitment to positive student relationships, communications with parents, and professional contributions to his/her school
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Timely, reliable, and accurate record keeping abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Internet applications.
  • Must have passed (or be willing to pass) a fingerprinting and background check.
